  • November 2011: Our research group has three papers accepted at the International Symposium on High Performance Computer Architecture (HPCA), New Orleans, LA, February 2012.
  • July 2011: Josep Torrellas is the Program Chair of ISCA-2012 (Call for Papers).
  • June 2011: Josep Torrellas will moderate a panel on "Broadening Computer Architecture Research: Embracing New Areas to Keep the Field Vibrant" at the International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA), San Jose, CA, June 2011 .
  • April 2011: Abdullah Muzahid, one of the graduate students in our group, has just been awarded an Intel PhD Fellowship and a Mavis Future Faculty Fellows (MF3) award (an award to facilitate the training of the next generation of great engineering professors).

  • December 2010: Josep Torrellas is named ACM Fellow.
  • October 2010: We released Failure is not an Option: Popular Parallel Programming, the report from the First Workshop on Advancing Computer Architecture Research (ACAR-1), which was sponsored by the Computing Community Consortium (CCC).   • September 2010: Mark Oskin and Josep Torrellas co-organize Laying a New Foundation for IT: Computer Architecture for 2025 and Beyond, the Second Workshop on Advancing Parallel Computer Architecture Research (ACAR-2), sponsored by the Computing Research Association (CRA) Computing Community Consortium (CCC) in Seattle, WA.
  • August 2010: Josep Torrellas, as part of an Intel-lead team, receives a DARPA grant to design an extreme scale multiprocessor under the Ubiquitous High Performance Computing (UHPC) program. Learn more about this here

  • August 2010: Josep Torrellas receives a DOE grant on "Advanced Architectures and Critical Technologies for Exascale Computing" with colleagues from Lawrence Livermore National Labs and UC San Diego.
  • June 2010: Josep Torrellas will participate in a Course in High Performance Computing and in the Parallel@Illinois Symposium in Singapore, Singapore, June 2010.

  • January 11, 2010: Josep Torrellas organizes a panel at HPCA 2010 in Bangalore on Extreme Scale Computing: Challenges and Opportunities.
  • January 9-10, 2010: Josep Torrellas co-organizes an NSF-sponsored workshop to discuss collaboration in research and education between researchers in India and the U.S. in the area of parallel and high-performance computing.
