"In my opinion, this problem of making a large memory available at reasonably short notice is much more important than that of doing operations such as multiplications at high speed" -- (Alan Turing, 1947)

The FlexRAM group tries to exploit recent advances in Merged Logic DRAM.

We propose to replace traditional Memory Chips with more advanced Intelligent Memory. Each FlexRAM chip includes 64 processors and 64 Mbytes of DRAM. See the   Architecture section for a more detailed description.

Those architectural changes open new problems and possibilities, see the ongoing Research to have a better idea.

The FlexRAM group is part of the IACOMA group from the University of Illiniois.
